What is Yupoo? How to order from a Yupoo album safely
Albums are catalogs, not shops. Here’s how to get from photos to an order you can check before it ships.
On this page
What is Yupoo? It’s a Chinese photo album site, and many sellers use it as an online catalog, often with one album per item. You can’t buy anything on Yupoo itself. There’s no cart and no checkout.
To order, you usually need the item’s listing on a marketplace like Weidian or Taobao, bought through your agent (a buying service like Superbuy or JoyaGoo). The album is where you look. The marketplace link is what you order.
What is Yupoo used for
Yupoo started in 2005 as a photo album site, a bit like Flickr. Owners upload photos into albums, sort them into categories and share the links. Sellers use it to show their products in one place.
A seller’s Yupoo has a front page with their categories and albums. An album usually shows one product: a title, sometimes a short description, and the seller’s photos. Titles are often in Chinese, so your browser’s translate option helps.
How to order from a Yupoo album
- Open the album for the exact item, not just the seller’s front page.
- Look for a Weidian or Taobao link in the title, the description or on the seller’s front page.
- No link? Message the seller through the contact shown on their Yupoo and ask for the marketplace link to this item. Mention the album title or item code.
- Open the listing and check it’s the same item, in the colour and size you want. The listing price counts, not the album price.
- Paste the link into your agent or our link converter, pick your variant and order.
From there it’s a normal order: your agent buys the item and sends you QC photos (pictures of your actual item at its warehouse) before you ship. The Weidian and Taobao buying guide walks you through every step.
Why some Yupoo albums need a password
Yupoo lets owners lock an album with a password, so the photos only show after you enter it. That’s the owner choosing who can see the album. A password doesn’t make an album safer or more official.
The password comes from the album owner. Check the post or page where you found the link, or ask the seller through a contact they’ve published. Skip pages that claim to list album passwords. They aren’t the seller, so you can’t check them. If anyone wants money or personal details for a password, walk away.
How to read a Yupoo album
Sellers name albums their own way, so expect a mix of Chinese, English, codes and numbers. Here’s what to look for:
| In the album | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| Title | Usually the item name. It can also hold a code, a price or sizes. |
| Item code | The seller’s own number for the item. Note it down. It helps when you ask for the link. |
| Price | Most likely in yuan (¥, CNY or RMB). Treat it as a hint and check the listing price. |
| Sizes | The sizes on offer. Compare the size chart measurements with clothes you own. |
| Photos | The seller’s pictures, not your item. Open them full size. Your QC photos show the piece you’ll get. |
If a title is just a code you can’t read, ask the seller what it means instead of guessing.
The risks: direct payment and fake albums
Some sellers offer to sell directly: you message them and pay by bank transfer, a payment app or crypto. That skips the marketplace. Weidian, for example, offers a secured transaction service that holds the payment until receipt is confirmed, and Weidian can decide who gets the money in a dispute. Pay a seller directly, and if the parcel never comes or the item is wrong, there’s no marketplace to step in.
That’s why we stick to marketplace links bought through your agent. Your agent buys on the marketplace, and you see QC photos before anything ships.
Fake albums are the other risk. Anyone can open a Yupoo account and copy photos, so an album can look exactly like a known seller’s and still belong to someone else. Stop if:
- They want you to pay them directly by crypto, wire transfer, gift card or a payment app. The FTC lists these as ways scammers insist you pay.
- The contact or shop link in the album doesn’t match what the seller uses elsewhere.
- Someone you don’t know sends you an album link or password out of nowhere.
- The price is far below the marketplace listing, or they rush you to pay.
More warning signs are in our guide to avoiding scams. Also know the law: items with fake logos are trademark infringement, customs can take them, and in some countries, like France, even buying them is illegal. Only buy for yourself, never to resell.
Save album links so you can find them again
- Copy the album’s own link. Its address usually has /albums/ and a number in it. The front page link won’t bring you back to the item.
- Save the marketplace link next to it. That’s the one you’ll order with.
- Screenshot the photos and size chart you’re going by. Albums can change or go offline.
- Keep it all in one note: album link, listing link, item code, size and colour.
Using Yupoo on your phone
Albums are packed with big photos, so they can load slowly on mobile data. Use WiFi when you can, open one album at a time instead of scrolling the whole front page, and let each photo load fully before you judge details.
Questions?
What is Yupoo?
A Chinese photo album site that many sellers use as a catalog. You can look at products there, but you can’t buy anything on Yupoo itself.
How do you buy from Yupoo?
Find the item’s Weidian or Taobao link in the album, or ask the seller for it. Then order that link through your agent.
How do I get a Yupoo album password?
It comes from the album owner. Check the post or page where you found the link, or ask the seller through a contact they’ve published.
Is it safe to pay a Yupoo seller directly?
It’s risky, because a direct payment skips the marketplace and its protection. Order a marketplace link through your agent instead.
What currency are Yupoo prices in?
Chinese sellers usually list prices in yuan (¥). Use them as a hint, since the price at your agent’s checkout is the one you pay.
Why is Yupoo so slow on my phone?
Albums are full of large photos. Use WiFi, open one album at a time and give the images time to load.
