Buying terms
- Rep: short for replica, a copy of a branded item. Items with fake logos are trademark infringement, and customs can seize them (European Commission). In some countries, like France, even buying them is illegal (French customs). Never buy to resell.
- Agent: a service that buys from Chinese shops for you, stores your items and ships them. coppd links to Superbuy and JoyaGoo. First order? Start with Superbuy.
- Seller: the shop selling the item. Your agent can ask for a return or exchange, but the seller decides.
- Taobao, Weidian, 1688: Chinese shopping sites where sellers list items. Taobao and 1688 belong to Alibaba, and 1688 is its business to business site.
- Weidian link: an item link like weidian.com/item.html?itemID= plus a number. Keep the full link, since short share links sometimes fail.
- Yupoo: a photo album site many sellers use as a catalog. You can’t buy there, so you need the seller’s Weidian or Taobao link.
- Presale: the seller usually has no stock yet and starts after you pay, so expect a longer wait on the seller’s schedule. Listings may say 预售 (sell in advance).
- Blanks: plain basics with no logos. No trademark problem, but check measurements and QC as usual.
QC and quality terms
- QC: quality control, meaning photos of your actual item at the warehouse. Basic photos are usually free, extras cost a little. Use the QC photo checklist.
- GL / RL: green light means ship it, red light means send it back or swap it. Typing RL in a comment doesn’t start a return. Request it through your agent.
- Batch: the same item from a different factory or production run. Quality and price can differ, so look at QC from the batch you’re buying.
- Retail: the original item from the brand, or its price.
- 1:1: a seller claim that a rep is identical to retail. No copy is identical, so treat it as advertising and judge your own QC photos.
- Budget vs top tier: rough labels for cheaper versions and pricier ones said to be closer to retail. They’re opinions, not grades.
Shipping terms
- Haul: everything you ship together in one parcel. Combining items from several orders into one parcel is consolidation, and it usually costs less per item.
- Storage: how long items can wait in the warehouse for free. Superbuy and JoyaGoo both give 90 days, as of October 2026. Return windows are much shorter, so check QC right away.
- Shipping line: a delivery option your agent offers, each with its own price, speed and limits. More in shipping lines explained.
- Tax free line: import tax is usually paid up front, so nothing extra at your door. It’s a service label with limits, not a tax exemption. If a line says DDP (delivered duty paid), the sender should handle import clearance and pay duties and taxes (DHL). Either way, ask what’s covered.
- Declared value: the value on your parcel’s customs form. Customs uses it to work out duty and tax, so it has to match what you paid. If your agent asks you, enter the real value.
- Shipping estimate: a price based on expected weight, before packing. The packed parcel sets the final price, so Superbuy, for example, charges the estimate and settles the difference after the carrier’s bill.
- Rehearsal packing: your agent packs the parcel before you pay shipping, so you see the real weight. That’s JoyaGoo’s name for this usually paid extra. Superbuy’s packing extras have other names.
- Volumetric weight: a weight worked out from box size. Lines that use it charge whichever is higher, that or the actual weight, so big, light parcels cost more. More in volumetric weight.
Community terms
- W2C: where to cop, meaning where to buy. Asking? Add a clear photo and say what you already searched.
- Finds and spreadsheets: items people found and shared with links, often collected in a shared list with prices. Prices and stock change, so check the live listing, size chart and QC yourself.
- In hand (IH): photos taken after the item reached the buyer. They show fit and wear, which warehouse QC can’t. A haul review shows a whole haul in hand, and the useful ones list sizes and measurements.
- GP: guinea pig, the first person to buy an item nobody has reviewed yet. There’s more risk, so check QC closely.
- TTS: true to size. True to whose size, though? Compare measurements instead of opinions.
- Legit check (LC): a community term for asking whether an item is authentic. Reps aren’t, so we don’t do LCs for reps. Ask for help with your QC instead.
